The music story so far...

Bio...

Jodie grew up in The New Forest; playing in the trees and hiding in the heather. Her love of nature, and solo adventures, continues to this day; she is a self-proclaimed 'dendrophile' (one who loves trees), and knows a lot of the trees in the forest 'by name'. Jodie struggled greatly at school. Later diagnosed with dyslexia, ADD, and synesthesia, she was labelled a problem child, spent much time in detention, and didn't learn to read or write until she was 9. One day, on a whim, Jodie auditioned for the school choir, and much to her surprise, she got in! She was promoted to choir soloist. This gave Jodie a sense of meaning, and a feeling that she could finally do something well. Her passion for music was ignited. With her synesthesia (hearing a sound and seeing a colour); the music and the shapes of the vocal melodies paint colours and textures in 3D space... giving music and singing an added dimension for Jodie (which she now uses for songwriting).

Through her teen years (also a struggle - being in a large comprehensive school was an overwhelming experience for a teenager on the spectrum) she continued her obsession for singing; taking 1-2-1 classical singing training lessons, and joining The Highcliffe Girls Choir. Whilst with the choir, she won first place at the Eisteadfodde Choir Competition in Wales (in a soggy choir uniform... having wondered off  in a daydream, and getting caught in a down-pour), and, performed at The Royal Abert Hall in Carmina Burrana. She also began songwriting (about the oddness of life - a style which has not yet abated) in her bedroom with an electric Yamaha keyboard, and performed some of these songs at the school Christmas concerts.

Jodie was supposed to go on to the Guildhall School of Music to study Classical singing, but found London too overwhelming to cope with. Left with an unintentional gap year, she was sent to the USA to work (the next-door neighbour new someone who new someone who was looking for a nanny, and her Mum needed )...
